2023/2024 NMU-NITheCS Summer Study and Research Programme will be held under the main theme “Connecting Quarks to the Cosmos, Connecting People with the Universe” . The main subject matter will be Matter Under Extreme Conditions in Heavy Ion Collisions and Astrophysics which is an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary subject as it is born at the borders between particle and nuclear physics, astrophysics, gravitation, and cosmology. This will allow the collaboration of final year BSc, BSc (Honours), and MSc students from different disciplines such as mathematics, physics, statistics, and computing to learn and to find solutions to cross-disciplinary scientific questions.

The interns will have interactive sessions at Nelson Mandela University Gqeberha from 27 November 2023 to 22 December 2023. During the study program the SA-JINR workshop will run in parallel. Scientists attending the theory workshop will be available for discussions that will be useful to carry out the summer study and research. At the end of the internship a final report will have to be submitted by the interns.
